Mark Curry of Sol Partners Acquires Digital News Daily NotiCel
Entrepreneur and philanthropist Mark E. Curry, founder of SOL Partners, has acquired NotiCel, a leading digital newspaper serving the people of Puerto Rico, the United States, and Latin America. The acquisition comes on the eve of NotiCel's sixth anniversary and caps the company's history as the most successful news startup in Puerto Rico's recent history.
With its timely and agile content, embodied in the slogan 'truth as it is', NotiCel has positioned itself as a respected and unbiased source for Puerto Rico news. To this legacy, Curry will add strategic investments in technology that will help expand NotiCel's digital footprint and enhance the brand's value and reach.
'We are excited to join the team at NotiCel and to help strengthen its platform as a high-quality news service offering information that matters to the people of Puerto Rico and the markets it serves,' said Curry. 'Our goal is to make the necessary strategic investments in technology and software so that NotiCel can continue its mission and bolster the great work they are doing in service to our community.'
'During my time in Puerto Rico, I've followed closely NotiCel's impressive trajectory and I am convinced that the island's citizens and the whole caribbean region need a voice like NotiCel's to meet head on the incredible opportunities and important challenges that lie ahead', remarked Curry, a resident of San Juan.
Oscar J. Serrano will stay in his position as editor-in-chief to maintain NotiCel's content output and to assist in the implementation of Curry's plans for the company's operations.
'The key to our success has been that our team works incredibly hard to deliver high-quality and timely news content to our readers,' said Serrano. 'We have a reputation for telling it like it is, and our news and editorial decisions will continue to be made independent of ownership. With enormous pride, we have seen how our competitors have adopted the innovations we brought to the news business six years ago and, under Mark's vision and serious commitment, we will remain a forward-looking and modern news leader for the people of Puerto Rico.'
Mark Curry launched SOL Partners in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2012 where he serves as Chief Executive Officer. SOL Partners provides business strategy, relationship management, software design, customer acquisition and back-office support in the technology and financial sectors. Curry, a resident of San Juan, devotes his time to various community charitable organizations. This includes Club Curry, an event he founded to support community-based non-profits, including San Juan-based San Jorge Children's Foundation and their mission to make a difference in the lives of children and families in need. Club Curry is planning its next event to benefit San Jorge Children's Foundation in March 2017. Curry also founded San Juan's De la Mesa a la Calle and supports Guayacan, the Red Cross, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and many other charities.
