More Than Half a Million Dollars in the Governors Campaign Committee
Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares' campaign committee reflects a healthy income in donations and even greater movement in proceeds for political activities, according to first trimester report submitted before the Office of the Electoral Comptroller (OCE in spanish).
NotiCel obtained Rosselló Nevares' campaign's income and expenses report corresponding to January, February and March of 2017. It shows a total income of $643,137.92 and a total of expenses of $143,110.20.
Most of the committee's income comes from political activities, specifically four events that managed to collect $635,045.92. In terms of direct donations given, the report illustrates various identified donors who gave amounts between $10 and $100 with at least one $1,000 donation for a total of $8,092.
The most successful activity in terms of collections was Rosselló Nevares' birthday, celebrated in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Carolina, whereanaverage individual donation was $500. Other activities celebrated include a dinner with the governor in the Torrimar sector in Guaynabo, a get-together in Caguas and a ball celebrated in the Sheraton Hotel in San Juan.
According to the expenses reported, the committee spent a total of $57,074.14, which entails a good return of investment during the first few months of his tenure. In regards to its debts, the committees' accounts payable total $41,087.03.
Although the information shown in the reports belong to the first months of this year, according to the OCE the committee has incurred in expenses in the last few months due to the campaign for statehood during the past status plebiscite.
Little more than $50,000 was disbursed by Rosselló Nevares' committee for that effort in the weeks before the electoral event.
Said costs, however, will be reflected in the next report to be submitted by all candidate committees during July.
