Governor Of Puerto Rico Asks For Cancelling Of Whitefish Contract
The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, ordered the annulment of the Whitefish Energy Holdings contract, a controversial company from Montana hired by the Puerto Rico Energy Power Authority (PREPA) after the public inquiries over the legality of said contract for repairing the power grid on the island.
'I have to look out for Puerto Rico's best interests. Let there be no doubt that I am taking this determination for the best interest of the people of Puerto Rico', the governor pointed out during a press conference from Fotaleza.
Rosselló assured that the director of PREPA, Ricardo Ramos, still has his confidence, but he had been seeing the Whitefish matter from a technical point of view.
According to the governor, his decision was not taken because of the performance of the company but because 'of the best interests of the people', though he did recognize that public pressure was a determining factor.
Rosselló has said that in the following days, brigades will be arriving on the island to repair the electric grid through a mutual agreement with the states of New York and Florida.
